We thank you for visiting “Innovation-El Portal” This Portal is a web platform which belongs to the Innovation-El Network a partnership of leading Greek Research Organizations designated herein as “Owners”,

The Portal has been created for the account of the Owners and on their behalf within the framework of the Reinforcement of the Research and Innovation Infrastructure” Action (MIS 5002772), funded by the Operational Programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation” (NSRF 2014-2020) and co-financed by Greece and the European Union (European Regional Development Fund)

Please find below the Terms and Conditions for the Use of the Innovation-El Portal.

Each User acknowledges that it taken note of the Terms and Conditions of Use and undertakes to observe them

Terms & conditions of use

1. Purpose

This website has been created as the portal for providing (a) information about Innovation-El network and (b) access to the Innovation-El network services. (hereinafter referred to as “Innovation-El Portal”). It is a web-based facility i.e. a web platform in which:

(all of which shall be hereinafter referred to as “users’)

can submit requests to the Innovation-El network

the leading Research Organizations/Universities, members of the Innovation-El network which own and operate the Greek National Research Infrastructure for nanotechnology, advanced materials and nano/microelectronics.

2. Owners - Administrator

2.1. Owners of Innovation-el Portal are the Research Organizations/Universities/Institutions which constitute members of the Innovation-El network, which have collaborated as Partners for the creation and operation of Innovation-El Network. They will be referred to hereinafter as “Partners” or “Innovation-El Partners”. The Partners are indicated in the Partners webpage of this website.

2.2. The Owners are jointly responsible for the content of this website, as defined in Term 4. Below

2.3. The Administrator of Innovation-El Portal is the National Centre for Science Research “Demokritos” (NCSR D) (www.demokritos.gr) which is Coordinator of Innovation-El Network. NCSR D has created, for the account of the Partners and on their behalf, the content of the Innovation-El Portal and the digital processes supported by it.

2.4. As Administrator, NCSR D coordinates and administers, for the account of the Partners and on their behalf, the digital processes provided and supported by Innovation-El Portal and in particular (a) the receipt of user requests and (b) the notification to users regarding processing of their requests.

2.5. NCSR D is responsible for the offline processing of submitted requests, according to the Internal Rules of the Innovation-El Network. Such offline processing includes submission of each request to the relevant Partner for the activation of a potential research collaboration, as such relevant Partner is defined each time according to the Internal Rules of the Innovation-El Network

2.6. As Administrator, NCSR D is responsible to process all queries, questions & assistance requests by individual users, which will be submitted in the “Contact” form of this website.

3. Content

3.1. Innovation-El Portal contains information about the Innovation-El Network and for the services offered by such network. Such information has been provided by Innovation-El Network members and will be kept updated by the Portal Administrator

3.2. Administrator and Owners reserve the right to correct the content of the Portal at any time and without notice. Such correction will be made by the Portal Administrator.

3.3. Administrator and Owners reserve the right to update, modify or withdraw the content of this Portal from time to time. The content may be modified, edited, deleted or withdrawn by the Administrator, in accordance with internal Partnership rules, at any time without prior notice.

3.4. The Innovation-El Portal owners accept no responsibility or liability whatsoever neither for the presence of viruses or malicious software on this website. This disclaimer is not intended to limit the liability of Portal Owners deriving from applicable national law.

3.5. Any User who discovers inaccuracies, erroneous information or information of clearly unlawful nature is invited to inform the National Centre for Scientific Research, Secretariat of the Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Ag.Paraskevi, Attiki, Greece at secretariat@inn.demokritos.gr (e-mail) via postal mail, e-mail or by using the contact form provided in this website.

4. Access and Use

A. Access

4.1. The Innovation-El Portal is accessible without restrictions. It is set at the disposal of any party, interested in:

(a) being informed about the Innovation-El Network

(b) requesting the services offered by the Innovation-El Network and/or

(c) requesting access to facilities operated by the Innovation-El Network

4.2. Administrator and Owners reserve the right to deny or restrict access to the Portal by any person or to block access from particular URL at any time and without expressly justifying such restricted access

B. Use

4.3. The Use of the Innovation-El Portal may consist in:

a) Browsing in order to obtain information about the Innovation-El Network provided in the Portal

b) Submitting Request for the Services offered by the Innovation-El Network, as such services are described in the Portal (hereinafter referred to as “Services Requests”)

c) Submitting Request for the use of Facilities operated by the Innovation El-Network, as such Use is described in the Portal (hereinafter referred to as “Facilities Requests”)

d) Subscription to newsletter

4.4. Subscription to newsletter requires registration. The registration requires provision of elementary data for personalization of the registered user i.e. contact e-mail.

4.5. Submission of requests for services and use of facilities requires that the user registers in the Portal, in a specific form, essential data for its personalization including, among others, name, type of organization and contact details. Such data will be treated and processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy of the Administrator, defined in term 6. below

4.6. Submitted Services Requests and Facilities Requests are not processed automatically by the Innovation-El-Portal and no contract is concluded automatically via the Innovation-El Portal. Any potential contract is concluded directly between the requesting User and the Partner which will undertake to process the Request (selected according to the internal rules of the Partnership) Such contract will be concluded according to the institutional framework of the Partner.

4.7. Each Request is examined by the Administrator which assigns it to a suitable and available Partner in accordance with the internal rules of the Partnership. The Partner which undertakes to process the Request will directly contact the User so that the parties proceed to a contract, which will set the terms of the provision of Services and/or the Use of Facilities

4.8. Upon submission of the Request, the User is notified that its Request is being processed and that such User will be directly contacted by the Administrator. The Administrator will contact the User and inform such User about the Partner which will undertake to process the Request

4.9. The Administrator takes all necessary measures to minimize disruption caused by technical errors. However some data or information on the Portal may have been created or structured in files or formats that are not error-free and no guarantee can be provided that the services will not be interrupted or otherwise affected by such problems. Administrator and Owners accept no responsibility with regard to problems incurred as a result of the use of this website. Furthermore, Administrator and Owners accept no responsibility with regard to problems incurred as a result of using any linked external websites

4.10. Each user is solely responsible for the selection, use and interpretation of the data which the user consults, searches and transmits on the Internet.

4.11. Each user is expected to verify that the computer configuration used does not contain any viruses or any other malicious software and that it is fully functional and operational.

4.12. Administrator and Owners reserve the right to suspend the operation of the Portal for any period of time without any prior notice.

5. Confidentiality

5.1. All data and information that the User submits to the Innovation-El Portal, particularly the information included in the Services Requests and Facilities Requests shall be kept confidential. The Administrator and the Owners undertake the obligation to protect such information and shall not disclose such information to any third party for any reason, without requesting an express consent by the User.

5.2. The Administrator shall take all necessary and suitable measures to protect the confidentiality of the Users information, safeguarding such information with the utmost diligence.

6. Intellectual Property – Proprietary Rights

6.1. All the information and content available on this Portal, including texts and images is protected by copyright. Unless otherwise stated expressly such copyright belongs to the Administrator and Owners jointly. Reproduction of texts from this portal is permitted for non commercial purposes and particularly for dissemination and information of interested parties, subject to the following conditions

(a) Respect for the integrity of the reproduced text without any modification or alteration of any kind

(b) Explicit reference to the Portal and its web address as source

6.2. For any other use, different from the uses indicated above, prior express permission by the Administrator is required

6.3. Any modification or alteration of content of this Portal in its reproduction constitutes a violation of the Owners and the Administrator copyright, unless express permission by the Administrator is provided.

6.4. The design and layout of this Portal is protected under copyright of the Administrator. No logo, graphic, image or search engine from this Portal may be copied or transmitted without prior express permission by the Administrator

6.5. The Portal also includes creative content which has been obtained from websites that provide royalty free content, fully respecting and taking into consideration the specific licensing terms for copyright exploitation of those websites.

7. Privacy – Personal Data under GDPR

7.1. Personal data are all data by which a person is identified or is identifiable. This data includes, for example, the name of a person but also data from which a person can be determined (e.g. e-mail address, account connection data, etc.).

7.2. The data collected on the Portal stem exclusively from the voluntary registering of your personal data eg submission of request or subscription to newsletter.

7.3. The data collected on the Portal will not be shared with any organization – commercial or otherwise excepted in case of external consultancy in relation with the Portal. In such case appropriate measures will be implemented.
Users personal data will not be divulged for direct marketing purposes. Anonymized collective data regarding use of the Portal and users profile may be published for the sole purpose of demonstrating how the Portal has been used.

7.4. The Administrator puts in place measures to ensure that users data are kept up-to-date and processed securely in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (hereafter “GDPR”)

7.5. The person responsible in the Administrator for the processing of personal data on this website pursuant to Art. 4 para. 7 of the Basic EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the DPO of NCSR Demokritos

7.6. When using the website for information purposes only, i.e. if user is not registered or otherwise provide us with information, only the personal data that the user’s browser transmits to Administrator server are transmitted. If a user wishes to view the Portal, the Portal collects the following data, which is technically necessary for the display of the website and in order to ensure stability and security. The legal basis for this is a balancing of interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR:
(a) – IP address

(b) Date and time of the request

(c) Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

(d) Content of the request (specific page)

(e) Access status/HTTP status code

(f) Amount of data transferred in each case

(g) Website from which the request comes

(h) Browser

(i) Operating system and its interface

(j) Language and version of the browser software.

7.7. According to the GDPR any user has the following rights towards the Administrator with regard to personal data:

a. Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)

b. Right of correction or deletion (Art. 16 GDPR Art. 17 GDPR)

c. Right of limitation of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)

d. Right of opposition to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)

e. Right of data transferability (Art. 20 GDPR)

7.8. Any user has also the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of personal data.

7.10. The Administrator does not keep any user information for longer than necessary for the purposes for which we collected it. However, user information may be kept for a longer period for historical, statistical or scientific purposes with the appropriate safeguards in place.

7.11. Cookies are used on the portal for its technical functioning and for gathering statistics. The legal basis for processing personal data by using session cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 point (f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Without the use of the session cookies especially, several functions could not be offered on our website.

7.12. A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores on the visitor’s computer or mobile device. The list below sets out the cookies that this portal uses and describes their purpose.

7.12.1. Session cookies
This Portal using session cookies to ensure the correct usage of the website. Session Cookies used by the Portal are deleted after the session.

7.12.2. Persistent Cookies
Persistent cookies are saved on the Users Computer and are not deleted automatically when the User closes your browser, unlike a session cookie, which is deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period, which may vary depending on the cookie. A user can delete cookies at any time in the security settings of your browser

7.13. More details maybe found in Google Analytics, the service used for this Portal statistics. Google Analytics is a service which monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the Portal. Google provides information about the cookies used by Google Analytics Google Analytics is configured to store first-party cookies that expire after 2 years.

7.14. Cookies are used by the Administrator to track the following information about visitors. Such information is used for aggregated, anonymous statistics reports of visitor activity and it is the following:

(a) IP address (masked)

(b) Location: country, region, city, approximate latitude and longitude (Geolocation)

(c) Date and time of the request (visit to the site)

(d) Title of the page being viewed (Page Title)

(e) URL of the page being viewed (Page URL)

(f) URL of the page that was viewed prior to the current page (Referrer URL)

(g) Screen resolution of user’s device

(h) Time in local visitor’s time-zone

(i) Files that were clicked and downloaded (Download)

(j) Links to an outside domain that were clicked (Outlink)

(k) Pages generation time (the time it takes for webpages to be generated by the webserver and then downloaded by the visitor: Page speed)

(l) Main language of the browser being used (Accept-Language header)

(m) Browser version, browser plugins (PDF, Flash, Java, …) operating system version, device identifier (User-Agent header)

(n) Language of the visited page

(o) Campaigns

(p) Site Search

(q) Events

7.15. Opting out: This platform enables the protection of end-user personal data. By default, the browsing experience of portal users/visitors is tracked by Google Analytics in order to produce anonymized statistics. A user may use not to be tracked (opt-out) and again if the user desires so, it may choose to be tracked again (opt-in).

8. Hyperlinks

8.1. This portal includes information made available by hyperlinks to other websites which have not been developed by the Administrator. The Administrator and the Owners shall under no circumstances be held liable for the content of the other websites and thus for the hyperlinks from this portal to the other websites. The existence of a link from this portal to another website shall not constitute any approval of the content or warranty regarding the content (its accuracy and functionality) or any actions of the owner and/or administrator of this website.

8.2. The creation of hyperlinks to this portal by other website shall not be subject to the explicit prior approval of the Administrator and Owners.

9. Modification of Terms

9.1. The Administrator reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time, without prior notice.

9.2. Access and use at the Portal shall constitute the acceptance of the User to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Users shall abide by the Terms and Conditions valid at the time of their use and have the responsibility to be informed about which Terms are valid at that time.

10. Liability

10.1. The user accepts that any access to the Portal or any use of the Portal shall be at the user’s own responsibility

10.2. Owners and Administrator decline all liability for direct or indirect damage which may be caused by the use of the Portal particularly due to an interruption or cessation of the operation of the website or to a malfunction thereof which may be caused particularly from a shutdown for maintenance or upgrading of the computer systems of the administrator, technical faults or network overloads, errors or negligence of telecommunication service providers or by any third party or by a virus acquired via the Internet.

10.3. In case that the user does not abide by the Terms and Condition herein and particularly when the user causes damage due to the violation of the terms, the Administrator reserves the right to seek all remedies available under the law for violation of contractual terms.

11. Applicable Law- Dispute resolution

11.1. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Greece

11.2. Αny dispute or controversy that might arise with respect to these Terms shall be referred to final resolution before the Courts of Athens, Greece.
